Winter walks – a cool but safe dress sense

One thing I do like is a regular walk, one around 6am to 7am, one at 12 noon, another to give me an appetite around 4pm but for some reason the staff have this thing called work which means they are always an hour late, making it more like 5pm.

I then have one last walk before settling down at night.

When one is a greyhound and an ex athlete one has very little fat on the bones, unlike other more inferior dogs; well I am a hound! So a good selection of coats and collars is an essential part of ones wardrobe.

This winter has been relatively mild but we have had a few cold and snowy days and on those days when the light is poor and I have my morning village inspection to do, my bright orange working coat is the one I call on for duty. When its extra cold a scarf is also essential.

Good Bye – Timmy (Balance on Time) 3rd August 2009 – 7th March 2019

Richard and Caroline had never had a dog of their own, never mind the exciting privilege of having a Greyhound.

My role has been to train them up to be good Greyhound parents in the hope that they will adopt many other hounds.

I can safely say that I have trained them well and I can go over the rainbow bridge in the knowledge that they will go on and give their home and hearts to many other Greyhounds.

I will remember them always.

The Lincolnshire Grey’t Greyhound Gathering

The Gathering

Today was ‘The Gathering”.  While there is nothing really wrong with other dogs, sometimes we Greyhounds want to socialise together.

Once a year we have the great greyhound gathering.  This year it was a Cadwell Park next to the race track, where I understand Richard has raced his noisy motorcycles.

We had three show rings for competitions, two dedicated for greyhounds and one for the lesser breeds of hound, but still sight hounds, not lesser breeds of dog.

It was a good day out and I had a present bought for me.  A new bed, as a greyhound can never have too many beds, collars, leads and coats.  In fact I think my wardrobe is bigger then my foster dad’s!

Holiday Time – The Mountains and Valleys of Wales

Its holiday time again.

I do prefer the cooler weather despite the fact that Greyhounds come from the middle east. So this year we went on holiday to Wales in March!

It was cold! In fact there was snow on the mountains and I had to wear a coat to bed!

We went for lots of walks along the river.

And walks in the mountains.

We stayed in a little cottage in a tiny village, but the best thing was that the local hotel in the village where we was staying, was very enlightened. Hounds (oh and dogs) were aloud in the restaurant and they had a menu for us.

We also visited the coast and a few castles.  Despite the cold it was fun and it was not too cold for ice-cream!

Overnight at the Vet

Its been a rough week.  Sprained my right wrist, been told off for trying to still run and now have toothache!

Still they took me to the Vets who stuck big needles in me, would not let me come home till the next day.

Since being home Richard has been feeding me funny tablets and coating them in peanut butter which makes them go down better, but I would prefer just peanut butter on its own.

I have demonstrated that I can still run with a sprained wrist but this was not liked, so I am now only allowed out into the garden with my lead on.

I understand I have as well as a sprained wrist, a infection and will need a tooth out, so will have to go back to the vets once the the infection and wrist has healed.  Oh well such is the life of an athlete, we do get these issues from time to time.

Chickens

In an odd and very large box at the bottom of the garden we have some very large birds, well finally I was introduced.

It turns out they are chickens and its where my omelettes have been coming from.  So it turns out they are useful indeed and so I must not chase them or eat them, or it will be no more eggs for me.
