Winter walks are no fun, dull weather, no squirrels to chase, rabbits to terrify just boring.

Cannot wait for better weather, maybe I can find a cat to hug!

Sherwood Pines – Pack Walk Sun, 19 Jul 2020 09:34:46 +0000
Sherwood Pines

Liz the human, some of her friends, Rocky the Greyhound, Bella the Greyhound and myself all went on a walk at Sherwood Pines, a rather nice wood near Sherwood Forest.

With the tree’s providing shade on a hot day, it proved a nice long walk. We then had a picnic and a further walk.

Lockdown Thu, 02 Jul 2020 09:17:24 +0000 Continue reading Lockdown]]> So it has been an odd year so far, after January’s nice walk with a pack of hounds we have all been cooped up for the last few months saying at home. Something called COVID-19 is causing all the humans to stay home.

There is a good side to this, always having someone around to get me a treat, the downside is they try and steal the settee. Don’t they know all furniture belongs to me!

Recently we have been able to go out a little so I was told it was time for my first visit to the beach.

The best bit is the chips, not so sure about the sand under by paws and the sea was shall we say interesting. I decided to keep out, I am after all a hound of distinction, swimming with the other dogs is not really something I should do. I have to keep up the standards.

Today was very much a grand day out. After the morning walk Caroline and Richard took us to Louth where we met up with lots of other sighthounds. Not just Greyhounds but Wolfhounds, and even Saluki.

We had a great walk along the river and it was very nice to walk along with real sighthounds and not these inferior dogs you often see that are often not even hounds.

August Update – Summer Walks Fri, 30 Aug 2019 15:54:02 +0000

Its been about four months since I was kidnaped from the kennels in Gainsborough. Since then its been sheer hell.

Long country walks, a sofa to myself, four walks a day and fish every Sunday.

Still I’ll try and make the best of it.

I had an early tea today, this Friday and it was a good job too. Richard & Caroline came to visit again but not satisfied with seeing me I was grabbed, stuffed in the back of their car and taken off.

At least there is a comfy sofa where I am now. I’ll post another update as soon as I can.

Visiters to the kennels Sun, 05 May 2019 18:46:34 +0000

Richard & Caroline paid me a visit today and took me for a walk. We found an ice-cream parlour but they did not take me in. I need to practice my sad eye look some more, the problem is I am just too cheerful and likeable.

Bransby Horses Home – my first day out Sat, 27 Apr 2019 15:26:15 +0000 Continue reading Bransby Horses Home – my first day out]]>

Hi everyone, its Ted here again.

I am currently in kennels in Gainsborough, waiting for someone to adopt me.

Today is another very exciting day as I am having a day out for the first time.

Bransby Horse Home are having a dog show and the Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust who are currently looking after me are going.

They are taking me to meet the public, somethings called horses and dogs that are not greyhounds if you can believe such a thing.

I am also told that two people called Richard & Caroline will be taking me out for a walk in the countryside. Its all very new and very strange but I cannot wait.

Hello from Ted Thu, 21 Mar 2019 22:41:21 +0000 Continue reading Hello from Ted]]>

Hi everyone. I am Ted. Its lovely to meet everyone.

Professionally I was called Leighlin Ted, an Irish racer, I started my career at Kilkenny racetrack and my first race was on the 30th March 2016 where I came 4th. I had my last race back in 27th January 2019. I have run and won marathon, and a sprint, but mainly have run middle distance. My last victory was in Peterborough on the 5th October2018.

Today is a very exciting day as I formally retire and have arrived at Gainsborough Kennels belonging to the Lincolnshire Grey Hound Trust.

I am currently sharing a kennel with a very loud noisy bitch called Brandy and she eats everything, including the wallpaper and my bedding.

Good Bye – Timmy (Balance on Time) 3rd August 2009 – 7th March 2019 Thu, 07 Mar 2019 17:30:37 +0000 Continue reading Good Bye – Timmy (Balance on Time) 3rd August 2009 – 7th March 2019]]>

Richard and Caroline had never had a dog of their own, never mind the exciting privilege of having a Greyhound.

My role has been to train them up to be good Greyhound parents in the hope that they will adopt many other hounds.

I can safely say that I have trained them well and I can go over the rainbow bridge in the knowledge that they will go on and give their home and hearts to many other Greyhounds.

I will remember them always.
